There’s no doubt that Apple had a lot to unveil at its “Scary Fast” event on October 30, with a number of new devices revealed during the duration of the show. Apple managed to pack a lot in for what was an unexpected show.
Despite this, many rumored products never made the cut. This means they may still be a work in progress, or may have been removed by Apple before release. Either way, we’ve rounded up everything the show was rumored to be about but never appeared – read on to see what didn’t happen.
M3 MacBook Pro 13-inch
While Apple has updated the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, the 13-inch model has been left on the M2. In fact, it’s been scrapped entirely and replaced by the M3 14-inch MacBook Pro. This is despite the fact that it was rumored to be updated to the M3.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro used a seven-year-old chassis, which is surprisingly long for a piece of premium technology. It still had the Touch Bar, thick bezels, and even the old chassis shape. We’ve dubbed it the worst MacBook that Apple still sells. Thankfully, this is no more. at least for now.
m3 macbook air
It’s been nearly 18 months since the 13-inch MacBook Air was updated, and it’s starting to look a little longer than that. Yet that too went into the “Scary Fast” show with no changes.
This is likely due to the presence of the 15-inch MacBook Air, which complicates the picture somewhat. This laptop was only announced in June 2023, so its update only four months later would have been unimaginable. Presumably, Apple will update both sizes of the MacBook Air at the same time, but we’ll have to wait for the 13-inch version for now.
27 inch iMac Pro
There were whispers that the “Scary Fast” show would spotlight another type of iMac: the iMac Pro. Apple has long been rumored to be working on a 27-inch or 32-inch iMac that will have a more powerful chip than the 24-inch iMac. Either those claims were absolutely false or Apple is still developing the device, as it was nowhere to be seen at the event.
Instead, Apple was happy to point potential buyers toward its refreshed M3 iMac, which the company was eager to compare to older Intel-based iMacs.

This leaves us with three more products in Apple’s Mac range: the Mac Mini, the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro. All three were long shots going into the event, and that’s especially true for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which were only updated in June 2023. In the end, it was no surprise when they failed to show up.
The Mac mini has been around a little longer since the update, but not by much: the latest version was unveiled in January 2023. It’s not updated particularly regularly, meaning there was unlikely to be another upgrade within the same year – and that’s how it proved that day, with no Mac mini in sight.
