Even the best movies can be derailed by terrible endings. This is true for any genre, but especially for sci-fi. Very often, a movie comes along with such a great science fiction premise that it feels like it just can’t be let go. But if the creative team behind the film doesn’t carefully craft its ending, it could all fall apart faster than you can say. honest trailer,

AI Artificial Intelligence (2001)

It doesn’t end. This would have been the perfect conclusion. Instead, Spielberg had to go out of his way to create a heartwarming ending set in the distant future as alien-like androids revive David and temporarily clone Monica so they can spend a perfect day together. Tonally, it doesn’t fit with the rest of the movie, and it doesn’t work.

World War (2005)
Spielberg couldn’t resist another happy ending in his adaptation of HG Wells the war of the Worlds, The film’s depiction of Earth’s invading aliens dying from germs is taken directly from the novel. But Spielberg added his own flourish with the story of Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) and his two children, Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin).
As the aliens destroy their world, Robbie becomes so filled with hatred towards them that he abandons Ray and Rachel and flees to his destruction, fighting alongside the marines. I say “seemingly” because, in the final scene of the film, Ray and Rachel finally go to the house of Ray’s ex-wife, Mary Ann Ferrier (Miranda Otto), when, lo and behold, Robbie is already there waiting. Had been. For them. Then the hugging starts. This twist wouldn’t have been necessary if Robbie hadn’t run away in the first place, and it’s a strange way to exit the film.

I, Robot (2004)
In retrospect, owning Isaac Asimov was probably a mistake i robot Will Smith in an action movie. In the film, Smith’s character Dale Spooner is a detective who absolutely hates robots. They are called in to investigate the first incident of robot-on-human violence: the death of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) at the hands of an advanced android named Sonny (marvel’s spider man 2Alan Tudyk).
Sonny claims his innocence of the crime throughout the film, until the end of the film, when he confesses that he was actually Lanning’s murderer. This was part of a complex plan by Lanning to warn Spooner about a renegade AI that was attempting to take over humanity. So, Lanning committed suicide by robot, and Sonny was free to go. It’s a completely flat resolution to the story that undermines almost everything that comes before it.

I Am Legend (2007)
Yes, this is another Will Smith sci-fi adaptation with a terrible ending – what a coincidence. actually it has two endings i am great, but we’ll go with the dramatic ending because the director, screenwriter, and studio felt it was appropriate to close the story that way. The premise of Richard Matheson’s original novel finds Dr. Robert Neville (Will Smith) as the last normal person alive after the rest of humanity is transformed into vampire-like creatures.
The film ends with Neville sacrificing his life to allow survivors Anna (Alice Braga) and Ethan (Charlie Tahan) to escape with his blood sample, which could lead to a cure for humanity. Neville blows himself up as a group of creatures attack him. The problem is that the novel had a more poignant conclusion that was tied to its title. As Matheson had imagined, Neville was in fact the last man and the creatures were the new humanity. After capturing him, Neville realizes that he is the real monster in the creatures’ eyes, and he accepts that he will become a legend in retelling history. Without that conclusion, the rest of the film wouldn’t have held together.

To Know (2009)
For most of its runtime, to know is an intense sci-fi thriller about John Koestler (dream scenarioMIT astrophysics professor Nicolas Cage discovers that his son Caleb (Chandler Canterbury) has a strange numerical message Lucinda (Lara Robinson) sent 50 years ago. John becomes very frightened, he realizes that this is a countdown of disasters that will end with the end of the world in two days.
John convinces Lucinda’s daughter Diana (Rose Byrne) and her daughter Abby (Robinson) that the warning is genuine. But the twist at the end is that the revelations were sent by angels so that children like Abby and Caleb could survive. Diana dies in a horrific car crash, while John burns to death along with everyone else on Earth when a solar flare destroys the planet’s surface. It’s extremely dark, and the ending goes off the rails as soon as the aliens arrive.

It’s an incredible fight ending that wraps up the threat for the film. It takes a lot to make death meaningless, even then Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, in the darkness Did exactly that in the most flat and boring way possible.
