Of all the Jean-Claude Van Damme films ever made, Van Dammed, timecop Could be the most fun. It’s got all the martial arts action that Van Damme is known for, along with a great premise that’s neatly summarized in its one-word title. Van Damme plays Max Walker, an agent of the Time Enforcement Commission, which was created to prevent changes to history. In 2004, Walker is haunted by the murder of his wife, Melissa Walker (Mia Sara), 10 years earlier, and is unaware of that event’s connection to his current case. But soon, Walker was pulled back to 1994 as a conspiracy threatened to break TEC from within.
Ron Silver easily gives the best performance in the film as the two versions of Senator Aaron McComb, the corrupt politician of 2004 and his slightly less evil 1994 self. He makes such a good foil for Van Damme’s Walker that it’s almost a shame the story didn’t give them more scenes together.
